Bringing Climate Technology into the Real World

Promising biodiversity technology often faces a difficult hurdle between proving that an idea works and demonstrating that it can work at scale.

Amazon’s Sustainability Accelerator Climate Tech programme is designed to help close that gap by connecting startups and scaleups with the company’s operational and technical teams and giving selected participants the opportunity to pursue pilots within Amazon’s European operations.

For 2026, the program is focused on building decarbonization, water stewardship and biodiversity. Since the Climate Tech program launched, 28 startups have been selected from more than 1,100 applicants, with Amazon funding more than $3 million in equity free pilots across 16 projects.

The new biodiversity track has a particularly strong connection to the .earth tribe. Both companies selected for the category, Hula.Earth and Evolito.Earth, are .earth domain users and appear to be the first members of the .earth domain community selected for Amazon’s Climate Tech program.

Giving Nature a Voice with Hula.Earth

Munich-based Hula.Earth helps organizations to understand what is happening across the ecosystems they manage.

Founded in 2023, the company uses sensors that identify species in real time from sound, while its platform standardizes biodiversity results across different types of sites and regions. Organizations gain reliable ecological data they can use to track biodiversity, manage climate related risks and respond to growing reporting requirements.

Through the Amazon accelerator, Hula Earth will explore how this type of technology could be applied within large-scale commercial operations, where continuously understanding changes in biodiversity can be considerably more difficult than conducting a periodic environmental assessment.

Tracking the Insects That Keep Ecosystems Working

Copenhagen-based Evolito.Earth  provides continuous insect biodiversity monitoring that can help organizations understand changes across their sites.

Evolito grew out of FaunaPhotonics, a Danish company founded in 2014 to develop automated insect monitoring for agriculture. After a decade of field research, the technology was relaunched as Evolito in 2025 with a broader focus on continuous biodiversity intelligence.

Today, the company works across sectors including energy, construction and nature restoration. By continuously measuring insect activity, Evolito aims to give organizations a clearer picture of how biodiversity is changing over time and provide data that can inform environmental decisions.

Making Biodiversity Measurable

While carbon emissions and water consumption can be easily measured, biodiversity is more complicated because ecosystems consist of interconnected species, habitats and environmental conditions that vary enormously from one location to another.

Technologies such as those developed by Hula Earth and Evolito make some of that complexity more visible.
