With the Earth Day 2023 theme highlighting the need for the business community to step up and save our planet, we are excited to spotlight the efforts of one of our .earth web domain registrars doing just that.
Earlier this year, Blacknight announced the installation of solar panels on the roof of its Carlow, Ireland headquarters – to reduce the carbon footprint of this facility, and play their part in making Ireland carbon-neutral.
Generating the equivalent power used by 12 typical Irish households in a year, the new solar panels will power most of Blacknight’s office electricity needs. The panels will also charge the electric cars driven by several Blacknight staff.
Blacknight is also signatories to the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, a European-focused organization that is seeking to reduce the overall carbon footprints of data centers and their back offices. The goal is to play their part in helping Europe to become carbon neutral by 2050.
“We’ve always been conscious of our energy usage, and this is another way for us to play our part in making Europe carbon neutral,” said Michele Neylon, Blacknight CEO, in this Business Plus article. “Being greener isn’t just great for the planet, it just makes economic sense.”
