Visionary plan points to potential ecosystem of companies to support this effort
With climate change potentially creating food and water scarcity, increased flooding, extreme heat, more disease, and economic loss, now is the time for truly bold and innovative solutions to protect the future of our planet.
Fortunately, the brightest minds at MIT have proposed a solution that could be a game-changer and will potentially protect life on Earth for future generations.
The idea is to create several thin film-like silicon bubbles that can be joined together – being approximately the size of Brazil – that serve as a buffer against the harmful solar radiation that comes from the Sun.
These “space bubbles” are based on an idea from the late 1980s, and offers less risk than other proposed, large geo-engineering projects that aim to reflect light from the Earth’s surface back into space, according to this recent Science Alert article.
This proposed idea reinforces that we need support from cutting-edge companies to bring these big ideas to life. Developing the “space bubbles” and the solutions for deploying them in space will require a large eco-system of industry players.
The .Earth domain would be an ideal branding foundation for these companies as they create a new industry category – whether for this project or for other solutions that counter climate change.
As we recently highlighted in this blog post about emerging CleanTech providers, the .Earth domain helps companies to build stronger sustainability-focused brands.
The .Earth domain is also all about uniting and establishing cooperative relationships between individuals and organizations that wish to show their support for making Earth a better place.
For any new company developing solutions to fight climate change, the .Earth domain would fit perfectly into their strategic marketing plans.
