DotAsia Organisation Transforming the Internet in Asia and Beyond

Voices

Thanks to the efforts of the DotAsia Organisation, the Asian Internet community has increased in scope and reach, and fully supports the continent’s development as an economic, political and cultural powerhouse.

As the operator of the .Asia top-level domain, which was introduced to the market in 2007, the organization has laid the groundwork for any Asian-related entity to fully leverage a globally visible Internet domain.

In addition to a wide-range of medium and smaller businesses embracing this top-level domain, the organization is seeing large global companies such as Johnny Walker and Corona using the .Asia domain to enhance their brands in the region.

The DotAsia Organisation, a non-profit organization, also contributes funds and supports different socio-technological advancement community projects around Asia. These include One Lap Top Per Child Asia Pacific, Information Society Innovation Funds, the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum, and much more.

Of course, the organization is also helping to improve the environment and wildlife. The latest member of the DotAsia staff is Ajitora, a cyberspace tiger and appointed Tx2 Ambassador, who is helping to double the amount of tigers in the wild by 2022, the next year of the tiger.

The Voices.Earth blog had the special pleasure of doing an exclusive Q&A with Ajitora in July, which you can read here. We would also like to thank Edmon for taking the time to share more insights into his organization, and how it will continue to play a key role in enhancing the development of the Internet in Asia.
