Many of the most precious landscapes are facing extinction, as a result of urbanization, deforestation, tourism, war, and climate change. Unfortunately, these landscapes will only be seen through still photos and satellite images.
Catalog.Earth wants to change all of this.
Just coming off of a successful Kickstarter campaign, the organization aims to allow future generations to study and appreciate these landscapes by cataloging them for journalistic, educational, research and virtual storytelling capabilities.
In August, both David and Saba will be embarking on their first expedition to capture 360-degree footage of Alaska’s Columbia Glacier, one of the fastest retreating glaciers in the world.
In addition, Catalog.Earth just launched its new website. The organization chose a .earth domain extension because it was a perfect fit for conveying its mission and “because there was no better domain for this effort.”
Stay tuned for a special upcoming podcast this summer with David and Saba who will be speaking to us from the field in Alaska. In the meantime, please visit one of these registrars to secure your new .earth domain.
