In today’s world, it is extremely challenging to avoid plastic. It is literally in everything we see and use every day, and sadly, it ends up in our oceans, as well as in our soil, water and even our bodies.
While many U.S. states and countries are banning the single use of plastics, there is much more than can be done to reduce our dependence on plastics.
Astrik.Earth is addressing this issue by designing a new material to replace traditional plastic for home products such as bowls and cutlery. The company makes a bio-degradable form of plastic from renewable natural starches and ground bamboo. It also emits 1/5 of the greenhouse gases of traditional plastic in its manufacturing processes.
Astrik chose a .Earth domain because it’s a good way for the company’s clients and collaborators to understand their brand story.
“Earth is where our product comes from and where it returns to, so it made perfect sense for us to use .Earth,” said Avishai Greenstein, the Brand Manager for Method Sourcing, which is the owner of Astrik. “Sustainability is a complex subject and it’s challenging to follow. We wanted to simplify this process, and create a place where all retailers, manufacturers, and brands that are collaborating with us can see our cohesive story.”
