For the average person, climate change can sound like a very daunting challenge to tackle with many feeling powerless to make a true difference. Thankfully, there has been an emergence of new digital solutions that can empower citizens to play a part in saving our planet.
One example of a cutting-edge solution is Giki (Giki.Earth), which builds digital products that help people live more sustainably by providing accessible, independent, and transparent information. In fact, Giki makes it very easy for anyone to take simple steps to significantly reduce their carbon footprints.
For example, Giki Badges is a free app that helps people find sustainable, healthy products in UK grocery stores. It covers 280,000 products, assessing across 15 issues such as carbon footprint, healthier options, sustainable palm oil and animal welfare.
The organization also recently launched Giki Zero, a step-by-step guide to a lighter footprint on the planet. It is a free fully interactive website and web app that enables users to measure, track and lighten their environmental impact.
Giki chose a .Earth domain because it was a perfect fit for their brand, and reinforces its efforts to protect Earth.
“We thought of all the usual permutations like .com, co.uk and .net,” said Jo. “But we are all about the Earth, so the .Earth domain felt like such a good fit, and luckily it was there waiting for us so we went for that one.”
